China Huadian Releases CSR Report

China Huadian Corporation has just released its first corporate social responsibility report.
CHC's CSR report shows that by the end of 2007, the electricity use of company's thermal power plants had dropped dramatically and this has helped the company save about RMB3.35 billion. In addition, the company had closed down 2.507 million kilowatt small thermal power generators and built up a total of 110 desulfurization generators with 349.1 million kilowatts capacity, which had made the emissions of soot, sulfur dioxide and nitrogen oxides decline by 57%, 56% and 22%, respectively.
CHC also claims to have donated more than RMB150 million in cash or in-kind services. Cao Peixi, general manager of CHC, said that CHC had stuck to integrating social responsibility into its development and has focused on promoting an environmental friendly, safe and harmonious development pattern.
China Huadian Corporation is a wholly state-owned enterprise established on in 2002 with a registered capital of RMB12 billion. The company's main businesses are production and supply of electricity and heat, development of power-related primary energy such as coal and supply of pertinent technological service.
