China's Food Nutrition Tag Management Rule will be formally enforced on May 1 to guide consumers' choices of food and to promote meal nutrition.
According to FNTMR, food nutrition shall be marked in a prominent position on the food packages and the nutritional content shall include the levels of energy and nutrients present in the foods. At present, some of the food sold on the Chinese market are using blurry concepts for their nutrients to misguide consumers. For example, some food manufacturers conveniently mistake "low-sugar" with "sugar-free" and tell consumers that they are the same thing.
Consumers are, of course, advised to always check for food nutrients and the content of each of them before they make a purchase.
