It was estimated that the total energy consumption of China's electronic goods reached 30-50 billion watts in 2007, of which high performance computer centers, servers and data center consumption accounted for a large part.
To promote the conservation of energy for high-performance computing, the High Performance Computer Standardization Committee of the Chinese Electronics Standardization Association set up high performance computer energy saving standard project team at the beginning of 2008. According to Yang Chong, president of Shanghai Lanqi Technology Co., Ltd which is one the founders of the high performance computer energy saving standard project team, the team has been working smoothly in the past few months.
