I think most charity organisations are making things complicated. Why don't they just make an option by quoting their bank account, so that we can bank straight into it by going to the bank. Instead they ask for our e-mail address and our home address and name etc and also say the money will be for the China earthquake and maybe other charity works. I am making my donation to the China earthquake victims and no other causes. If I were to make donations to other causes, I would do so in separate gos.

FYI, you can make donations to several organizations to this earthquake tragedy through networkforgood.org. The <a href="http://www.networkforgood.org/topics/international/earthquake/china080512.aspx?source=YAHOO&cmpgn=HMPCRS" rel="nofollow">direct link is here</a>.

The Red Cross link on this site directs funds directly to the Red Cross Society of China. My donation went through on Wednesday.

In response to request for donations and aid to the earthquake area, you can visit CharityInChina.org, a service of ChinaCSR.com, and find a list of the top Chinese aid organizations.

The direct link is <a href="http://www.charityinchina.org/2008/05/16/charities-to-help-victims-of-chinese-earthquake-in-sichuan/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">here</a>.

I really feel bad for Chinese people but I also know that corruption in China is very bad.

How can I be very sure that if I donate money to China that it goes to the correct people?

You should also warn your users that there are scammers and cheats all around so always be 100% sure about which organization you donate your money to!

Ok, there are lots of places to donate and to help. Actor Jet Li has his own organization and it works with the Red Cross. Here are the details below or go to the website <a href="http://www.jce.com.hk/jet/index.php?l=en&s=spirit&ss=projects&p=one_donations" rel="nofollow">here</a>.

The Red Cross Society of China and Mr. Jet Li announce the beginning of the "Jet Li One Foundation Project". With the purpose of raising funds towards the benefit of those affected by Natural Disasters, they encourage each person, each month, to contribute just 1 RMB to help those people who truly need assistance. The funds will be deposited into the Red Cross Society of China's General Purpose Account and earmarked for use by the "Jet Li One Foundation Project". All financial records will be transparent and regular announcements will be provided. Jet Li would like to extend and open invitation to the public and media towards cooperative supervision of this project.

There are currently two methods to donate:

1. By Mobile Phone.

By sending an SMS to 999309 and entering either 1 or 2 you will donate 1 or 2 RMB respectively to the "Jet Li One Foundation Project".

If you would like to submit a regluar monthly donation of either 5, 10 or 15 RMB you can transmit MY5, MY10 or MY15 respectively to 999309.

2. Long Term Donation.

If you are able and willing, you can donate an annual amount of 999 RMB to the "Jet Li One Foundation Project" either though postal mail or through account transfer.

    Mailing address:
    中国北京东城区北新桥三条8号
    中国红十字会总会

    Account Transfer (Inside China):
Bank: East China Industrial and Commerce Bank
Beijing Branch, Dong Si Nan Sub-Branch
Indicate "Jet Li One Foundation Project"
    Account: 0200001009014413252

    Account Transfer (Outside China):
    Bank: China CITIC Bank
    Beijing Jiu Xian Qiao Sub-Branch
Indicate "Jet Li One Foundation Project"
    Account: 7112111482600000209

It is the hope of the Red Cross Society of China and Jet Li that everyone will be encouraged to participate in this project. Through your contributions you are working towards spreading love and providing a gift to those affected by Natural Disasters.

Dear Folks,

It would be nice for us here in USA to be able to send help.

In the USA we only use checks, not boxes of cash.

Should we send checks to American Red Cross or to the Merch Corps ?

Thank you,

Sincerely,

YaoHui LIU & Rich.
