Mercedes-Benz China has submitted a report to General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine of China in which it says it will recall about 1483 S-Class W/V221 Sedan cars from the Chinese market starting in June for a signal and actuation module problem.
The batch of S-Class Sedan cars were made between October 2007 and November 2007 and 1483 of them have been sold in the Chinese market. Mercedes-Benz China says it will replace the components free of charge so as to eliminate any possible future failure.
In 2006, due to the risk of fuel exosmosis, Mercedes-Benz recalled about 23677 S-Class W220 Sedans from China.
According to Chinese media, the selling of the S-Class cars in China has not been affected at all, despite the recall. Instead, the price of the most of them is on the increase.
The S-Class Sedan is a flagship car made by Mercedes-Benz. Due to import quota limits, there is not an adequate supply of the cars in China, and this is probably the reason for the price increase.
