A new solar cells project with annual production capacity of 50MV has settled in Hefei Science City. This project will be completed around 2010, with an initial investment of CNY520 million.
This project is one of the signatory projects signed on the Anhui Merchant Convention 2008, and is invested by Anhui Paiya Solar Energy Co., Ltd, who specializes in R&D, production and sales of solar energy photovoltaic modules and applications, in cooperation with Zhejiang University, University of Science and Technology of China and Anhui Photovoltaic Technology Institute.
Adopting high-efficiency solar crystal silicon and advanced solar cell producing techniques and equipments from the US and Germany, the project will manufacture crystal silicon solar cells of high quality, and will benefit energy saving, environment quality improvement and technology innovation. When put into use, it will generate 57.5 million KWH per year using solar energy, reducing emissions of sulfur dioxide, carbon dioxide and dust of nearly 20,000 tons.
Hefei Science City is the first and only technology innovation demonstration area in China for these types of projects.
