CASS Sets Up CSR Research Center

The Corporate Social Responsibility Research Center at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences was officially founded in Beijing last week.
Being a non-profit academic research institution, it is the first national research center and top theoretical research platform covering the CSR sector in China, aiming at exploring a set of CSR theoretical system with Chinese characteristics, establishing and improving effective CSR external mechanism, and assisting Chinese enterprises to find a pratical path for CSR.
Vice Dean of CASS Chen Jiagui is appointed chairman of CSR Research Center, and Dr. Zhong Hongwu of Institute of Economics CASS is appointed director. Experts and scholars from CASS, State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council, Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security, China Enterprise Confederation, Renmin University of China, China Ocean Shipping (Group) Company, China National Petroleum Corporation, Tencent and Vantone will be members of the council and researchers.
Chen Jiagui pointed out in his speech: "Fulfilling CSR is the fundamental point for corporate sustainable development, global trend of accelerating economic development and social progress, and motive force for harmonious society." CSR Research Center will publish a blue book each year, which will record achievements of the last year and announce annual development index of CSR in China, Chen also said.
Deputies from COSCO, CNPC, China Huaneng Group, Vantone Group and Tencent also delivered speeches about their own opinions on CSR.
