PepsiCo China has started a public welfare project "Sichuan Power" to help people rebuild their home with a total investment of over CNY3 million to date.
The reemployment plan is the core program of the sustainable aid plan. PepsiCo will provide booths and other facilities needed for 400 Sichuan Power love stores at no charge, and also a parcel of free products as startup funding for each operator. This is helpful for the economy recovery and for persistent income of people in disaster areas.
"Knowledge Is Power" is another initiative of Sichuan Power, which will focus on schools and students that are affected in the earthquake. Besides donating 80,000 books and 20,000 stationery packs for over ten schools in Pengzhou, Mianyang, and Anxian, PepsiCo is also promoting beach soccer and is planning to build more than ten beach soccer pitches for students in disaster areas.
As at July 23, 180,000 people had joined Sichuan Power. PepsiCo China says that these initiatives are just the first step for Sichuan Power and it will contribute more to the reconstruction of Sichuan in the future.
