Beijing Municipal Government announced that on August 8 municipal departments, companies, and other social organizations should close on the day of the Olympic Opening Ceremony.
The Beijing Municipal Labor and Social Security Bureau and other relevant departments have held a special meeting to discuss issues about remuneration of labor for people who still worked on August 8.
According to current laws, employers should pay employees overtime pay for their work out of normal working hours. As yet it is still unclear what the specific compensation plan will be.
