Guizhou Provincial Environmental Protection Bureau, Guiyang sub-branch of the People's Bank of China and China Banking Regulatory Commission Guizhou Bureau have jointly issued a document saying that the three departments will implement Green Credit policies.
Green Credit is a credit policy put forward by the Ministry of Environmental Protection, the People's Bank of China, and the China Banking Regulatory Commission in July 2007 to limit the increased pollution and high energy consumption companies.
According to the document, environmental departments should offer environmental information to the financial sector; the People's Bank of China will bring this information into the basic database of enterprise credit information to prevent possible credit risks; banking regulatory departments should urge commercial banks to make environmental conditions one of the necessary credit auditing terms; commercial banks should restrict credit to polluting companies on the basis of the information provided, and adjust credit management in a timely manner to prevent credit risks.
