Hebei Provincial Trade Union Federation and the Department of Justice have jointly issued a notice, concerning the establishment of an orientation legal aid system in the province's trade union system.
According to the notice, legal aid agencies should ensure that each legal aid staff member would be responsible for contacting a certain number of enterprises based on criteria such as the location of the enterprises, the nature of different industries, labor relations, and employees' needs.
Legal aid staff should regularly visit trade unions of enterprises to explain and publicize labor laws and regulations to employees and enterprises and to prevent and resolve labor disputes thus combining knowledge of the law and legal aid.
It is reported that Hebei's trade unions will further strengthen the construction of employee legal aid agencies this year. Meanwhile justice departments will offer the necessary support to these agencies by encouraging lawyers and grassroots legal service workers to join in the employee legal aid staff.
