The Chinese Ministry of Health has circulated a notice to stop the clinical use of Yinzhihuang Injection produced by Shanxi Taihang Pharmaceutical Company with the batch number being 071001.

According to the notice, adverse reaction occurred on four newborn babies after they were injected with Yinzhihuang in Zhidan hospital, Yan'an, Shaanxi; and one of the four who was only nine days old died.

The company had produced 260,000 units of Yinzhihuang injection which have been sold in Hebei, Shanxi, Jilin, Heilongjiang, Shandong, Yunnan, Shaanxi, and Ningxia.

Shanxi Taihang Pharmaceutical has responded to the incident on its website. On October 16, the company recalled all the Yinzhihuang injections of which the batch number is 071001, and reinspected the sample in the company. On October 17, the company halted the sales and use of all batches of Yinzhihuang injections.

The company has sent four people to Shaanxi to investigate the incident, collecting relevant information and offering them to the drug supervision department.
