Nissan China plans to recall 2007 model Infiniti G35 sedans produced between May 11, 2007 and October 19, 2008.
According to the recall report, a varistor in the occupant classification system control unit located in the passenger seat cushion may have been manufactured out of specification. Under certain conditions, this could cause an interruption of signal between the OCS and the air bag control unit. This could result in the passenger air bag being suppressed and could fail to provide adequate protection in the event of a crash.
Dealers will test the signal between the OCS and ACU systems to check that it is functioning as designed. If necessary, the seat cushion (including the OCS hardware) will be replaced with a new one.
No incident report was received when the recall notice was published in China. Nissan China will begin the recall work from November 7, 2008. Altogether 431 units are involved in China.
