The Hong Kong Trade Development Council and Dongguan Municipal Government have signed a cooperation agreement to help Dongguan's Hong Kong firms to deal with the financial crisis.
According to the agreement, the two sides will carry out a range of plans to help companies solve difficulties in building their brands and developing markets. In particular, Dongguan Municipal Government will allocate a special fund to reward companies in selling products in the mainland; assist them in participating in exhibitions and marketing; and registry of their products in the mainland or foreign countries. HKTDC will spend HKD120 million on international exhibitions, of which HKD80 million will be used to attract overseas buyers and HKD40 million will be provided as subsidies to help Hong Kong companies, particularly SMEs, to attend the exhibitions.
Liang Weihao, director of Dongguan Foreign Investment Association, said that the two sides' cooperation will help Hong Kong companies win more orders and increase their capacity in dealing with the financial crisis.
