News from Xi'an Municipal Education Bureau is that Xi'an will set up four vocational education groups which will be engaged in rail transportation, software service outsourcing, animated cartoons and tourism, in an effort to improve employment opportunities for students.
At present, there are 31 advanced vocational-technical institutes and 218 secondary vocational schools in Xi'an, offering more than 80 majors in machine manufacturing, electronics, tourism, architecture, engineering, medicine, and automobile repair and maintenance and yielding over 70,000 skilled workers for the city each year.
Li Zhongliang, deputy director of XMEB, said that it is an inevitable choice for Xi'an's vocational education to be integrated and reorganized. Li stated that the five municipal level vocational education training bases for machine manufacturing, electronics, tourism, animated cartoons, and service outsourcing which were established earlier have laid down a strong foundation for setting up these vocational education groups.
As approved by XMEB, the Rail Transportation Vocational Education Group will be set up based at Xi'an Railway Vocational and Technical Institute, the Software Services Outsourcing Vocational Education Group at Xi'an University of Arts and Science, the Animated Cartoon Vocational Education Group at Xi'an Vocational and Technical Institute, and the Tourism Vocational Education Group at Xi'an Tourism School.
