The Red Cross Society of China has unveiled a special fund in Beijing for disabled and orphaned children.
The new fund, which is named the Happy Angel Fund, was jointly launched by RCSC, Soba, and Beingmate Group, a major baby food manufacturer in China. It aims to provide care and protection to disabled and orphaned children who are less than six years old to ensure these children can grow up healthily by offering the necessary support and medical aid to their families.
So far, Beingmate has donated CNY20 million cash as well as baby products with a total value of CNY100 million to the fund. The Beijing Deaf Children Rehabilitation Center has become the first beneficiary of the fund which plans to arrange a language training program and provide scientific rehabilitation training to ten deaf children from the center.
Currently there are about 100 million children under the age of six in China and about 10 million of them suffer from medium or advanced malnutrition.
