GAPP Extends Regards To Chinese Journalists

General Administration of Press and Publication reportedly sent a letter of thanks to reporters and journalists in China before Journalist Day, held on November 8.

GAPP says in the letter that it, as the executive department of the press and publications in China, will ensure the public's freedom of speech and protect journalists' legal rights as well as the society's news dissemination, and will, like always, severely fight against those who commit crimes in the name of journalists.

GAPP says that reporters and journalists' activities shall be protected by law and people must not disturb their interviewing activities. GAPP asks the news agencies to provide necessary guarantees for their journalists and reporters and concerned units to offer good conditions for journalists' legally obtained interviews.

GAPP calls on journalists to be more practical, innovative, and disciplined, to keep on learning new skills and to acquire new knowledge to upgrade their own qualities, respect the rules of news publicity and work out good news reports in a manner familiar to the public, and constantly increase the attractiveness and power of of their reports.
