As goes the global economic downturn, so goes funding for corporate expenditures deemed non-essential, such as some corporate social responsibility programs. Many are put on hold until an institution regains financial footing, and in China, CSR program managers are worried about losing traction for their initiatives in China.

The Board of Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Ltd. has established a Corporate Social Responsibility committee chaired by the chief executive to oversee the further development of CSR within the company, and has retained the Business Environment Council as its CSR consultant.

Seventeen Chinese Internet companies have passed the credit rating scheme carried out by the Internet company credit rating evaluation center of the Internet Society of China.
