The "Corporate Social Responsibility Blue Book 2009", which was jointly released by the Economics Division of China Academy of Social Sciences and China's Social Sciences Academic Press, shows that the general level of CSR in Chinese enterprises is low.

The China Corporate Social Responsibility Rank 2009 was formally released at a symposium in Beijing organized, amongst others, by the China CSR Research Center.

As goes the global economic downturn, so goes funding for corporate expenditures deemed non-essential, such as some corporate social responsibility programs. Many are put on hold until an institution regains financial footing, and in China, CSR program managers are worried about losing traction for their initiatives in China.

The Corporate Social Responsibility Research Center at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences was officially founded in Beijing last week.
