Germany-based Volkswagen AG and Sweden's Volvo have announced recalls for substandard cars in China in accordance with the Regulation of Defective Automobile Product Recalls of China.

In response to a notice from China's General Administration of Quality Inspection, Supervision and Quarantine on halting of import of Renaualt's cars, the French automaker's office in Beijing has issued an announcement, apologizing to Chinese consumers for hidden safety problems with the company's cars.
