International environmental organization Greenpeace is taking supermarkets in China to court over excessive use of pesticides.

China Certification & Inspection Group has reportedly issued the Green Market Certification to Carrefour's six stores in Beijing, making the French supermarket one of the first retailers to gain the certification in the Beijing region.

China Resources Vanguard has announced that it teamed up with Unilever to donate 100 "Umbrellas of Hope" and CNY75,000 for CR Vanguard Baise Hope County in Guangxi Province.

Greenpeace recently published a report on pesticide residues in vegetables and fruit in China, which shows five kinds of fruit and vegetables contained extremely poisonous pesticide and produce sold in supermarkets contain higher level of pesticide residue than those sold in agricultural markets.
