The Western Academy of Beijing announces the groundbreaking of the WAB Wild Miao Liang Experiential Outdoor Education Center, a cutting-edge facility in Beijing's Minyun Mountains, designed to offer unique experiential outdoor learning opportunities for WAB students, as well as students from migrant and special needs schools.

The center is designed to be environmentally sustainable, with zero output, thus minimizing its impact on the local environment. Leading environmental experts in China have endorsed the environmentally sound and cutting edge technology that WAB hopes to integrate into the center.

WAB seeks environmentally sound technologies for the construction of an experiential outdoor education center including:
- Composting Toilets
- Solar Water Heating Systems
- Biogas Fermentation Systems
- Solar Electricity System
