Beijing SOS Children's Village will be formally set up in June in Huangcun Village, Daxing District of Beijing.
The Village will enroll 20 orphans in the first phase to form four to five families and it will enroll a total of 120 orphans in one to two years.
According to Xue Zhaohui, a representative from Beijing SOS Village, only children with Beijing permit residences who are healthy, less than six years old, whose parents are both diseased and whose relatives can't afford to raising them, are eligible to live in the Village.
The eligible children will be organized into several families and raised by a foster mothers. They will live in 15 independent apartments, each of which will be considered a household. The boys will leave the family after they reach 14 to live in the youth apartment and the girls will live in the family when they are 18 years old.
The first phase of Beijing SOS Children's Village includes a 15-household building, a kindergarten, an international training center and related office buildings. The second phase of the construction, which will be completed in a few years, will include a youth apartment and an apartment for retired foster mothers. All the expenditures of Beijing SOS Children's Village will be undertaken by SOS Kinderdorf International.
