China Datang Corporation has just held a press conference for the release of its Corporate Social Responsibility Report 2007.

The report reveals achievements the energy company has made in industrial restructuring, energy conservation, emissions reduction, production, management, construction of a harmonious company and fulfillment of social responsibilities in 2007.

Zhai Ruoyu, general manager of Datang, said at the conference that Datang is making every effort to improve the proportion of electricity in end-use energy and to make contributions to a Green Olympics. It is reported that 48 generator sets of 13 companies with capacity of 13.65 MW of Datang are included in the Olympic air quality control projects, with estimated total investment being CNY2.5 billion, which will reduce dust emissions 10,000 tons and carbon dioxide by 50,000 tons during the Beijing Olympics.

The year 2008 is the first year since Datang joined the UN Global Compact, and also the first year for the implementation of "Guidelines to the State-owned Enterprises Directly under the Central Government on Fulfilling Corporate Social Responsibilities" issued by China's State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission. Datang says it will further improve social responsibility management system and index system and promote balanced development of economic, social and environmental performances.

Deputies from relative departments and stakeholders also attended the conference. UN Global Compact and China Enterprise Confederation representatives were invited to make third-party evaluations, examining integrity, correspondence, accuracy, neutrality and comparability of the report. This is the second CSR report China Datang Corporation has issued.
