Local media reports that an unnamed jeans dyeing factory in Shunde, Guangdong Province has used forged notes to pay about 20 employees and then dismissed them when the workers asked to change the money.

The reports say this was not the only time that the factory used fake money to pay its employees and sacked them after they insisted on changing the money. The factory was reported to usually use the fake notes only for new workers.

Regarding the workers' requests for changing the fake money, the factory said that they were also the victim as the fake money was from the bank and they would change the money for the workers after they settle the issue with the bank.

Local government departments have said that they would investigate the issue to protect the workers' interest.
