To promote the construction of local sustainable development and respond to the global climate changes, China has set up 27 provincial level Clean Development Mechanism service centers.

Guo Risheng, director of China 21st Century Agenda Management Center, who is also the person in charge of the relevant CDM project, said at a meeting in Nanjing that to meet the challenge of the global climate change, in cooperation with some local level science and technology departments as well as developed countries like Canada, Japan, France and Holland, the National Development and Reform Commission, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Science and Technology have jointly established 27 provincial CDM service centers across the country. And the CDM projects developed or promoted by these centers cover wind power, hydropower, coal, and methane resources.

The mission of these provincial centers is to raise the awareness of the local officials, enterprise managers and the public on CDM, train CDM talent, promote CDM sample projects, and introduce advance technology and investment from abroad so as to help the local areas increase their capacity in responding to global climate change.
