Aluminum Corporation of China Limited and Monash University from Australia have jointly set up a Sino-Australia Light Alloy Research Center to focus on energy use and energy saving as well as the comprehensive use of energy, clean production and ecological recovery technology.
Xiao Yaqing, general manager of Aluminum Corporation Of China Limited, says that an important part of energy saving and emission controls lies in technology innovation. Through this research platform, they will be able to put more of their technology into production and make their achievement in energy saving and emission controls more remarkable.
Chalco will reportedly invite China South University, Shanghai Jiaotong University and Chongqing University as the Chinese partners for the center and Monash University will invite the University of New South Wales, Queensland University, Sydney University, Melbourne University and Deakin University as well as the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organization of Australia to be the center's partners in Australia. The research center will focus on design, processing, performance analysis, promotion and application of light alloys as well as talent training.
In March this year, Chalco won the bid for Australia's Aurukun bauxite project which involves a construction investment of AUS$3 billion.
