China's State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine has signed an agreement on Traditional Chinese Medicine with Hong Kong's Food and Health Bureau.

Wang Guoqiang, director of SATCM, has disclosed to Hong Kong media that the mainland Chinese government has taken seriously the exchange and cooperation with Hong Kong on TCM, and according to the new agreement, they will carry out extensive cooperation in a variety of fields, including TCM development strategy making, hospital management, talent training and culture exchange. Wang says that SATCM has long kept a good relationship with Hong Kong SAR, providing technical support for Hong Kong's TCM development and recommending TCM experts to assist in Hong Kong's TCM course review and participating in Hong Kong's TCM qualification assessments.

Guo says that since the return to Chinese mainland ten years ago, Hong Kong's TCM sector has made great headway under the support of the SAR government and TCM has been integrated into Hong Kong's medical service and educational service system.

For Hong Kong's role in promoting TCM, Wang believes that the region will play a demonstrative role in TCM development for the international market with its unique geographical location.
