Sinopec Guangzhou Receives Warning For Pollution

Guangdong Provincial Environment Bureau has issued a red sign warning to 19 companies including Sinopec Guangzhou that were found to have serious emission levels or have had serious pollution accidents.

It has also issued a yellow sign warning to 31 companies including Guangdong Nanfang Alkali Making Company and Shenzhen Nanshan Thermoelectric Company. GPEB has checked a total of 164 companies. Those that have met standards have been accredited as environment friendly and credible companies. Those that have had some slight pollution problems had been given a yellow sign warning, and those that have involved in excessive emissions or have caused serious environmental pollution accidents have been issued a red sign warning and been placed under strict supervision.

114 companies, accounting for 70% of the total, were accredited as credible enterprises; 31 companies, accounting for 19%, received yellow sign warning; and 19 companies, accounting for 11%, received red sign warning.

Of the 19 companies that have been put under strict supervision, two are located in Guangdong. They are Sinopec Guangdong and Fanyu Meishan Mali Barm Company.
