The Star-Grade Hotel Assessment Committee of Urumqi has reviewed all of the star-grade hotels around the city and has decided to cancel five hotels' qualifications.

Of these five hotels, Islamic Hotel and Dayinghe Garden Hotel are requested to stop their business pending renovation; Wuhe Mansion has been criticized for poor management; and Shipin Mansion had some of its fire protection facilities fail to meet the relevant standards. As a result the Star-Grade Hotel Assessment Committee has decided to revoke the Islamic Hotel's three-stars, and to revoke the two-star hotel qualifications of Dayinghe Garden Hotel, Wuhe Mansion, Bazhou Hotel, and Shipin Mansion.

According to the Star-Grade Hotel Assessment Committee, the new regulations for tourism star-grade hotels' classification and assessment stipulates that star-grade hotels can only keep their qualifications for five years before renewal. The Star-Grade Hotel Assessment Committee will review them every year and will lower or revoke the corresponding star levels if a hotel has been given a warning notice more than three times or a notice of criticism more than two times within one year. For a period of one year after the date when the hotels have their qualifications revoked, they will not be allowed to apply for reassessment.
