China's General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine of China has issued a circular, asking quality inspection departments at all levels across the country to carry out a law-enforcement action to eliminate fake goods with focus on food and building materials for the earthquake relief.

AQSIQ asks for five checks to be conducted: to check the quality of such daily food as rice, flour, edible oil, sauce and vinegar as well as the quality of convenient food like instant noodles, biscuit, sausage and bottled water; to check the quality of various relief materials, including tents, quilts, clothes, disinfection solution, lighting appliances and portable power generation machine and small, disordered and bad manufacturers; to check important building materials necessary for the reconstruction; to check agricultural materials such as fertilizers, pesticide and farming machines necessary for resuming agricultural production; to check trade market, gas toll stations, liquid gas stations, taxis and packaged goods with fixed quantity.

In addition, AQSIQ asks that other areas to be policed. This includes cracking down on counterfeit food manufacturing sites and such illegal behaviors as using non-food use raw materials to process food, manufacturing and supplying food that are harmful to human health; cracking down on the imitation of qualified goods with unqualified goods and the production of bad quality quilts; preventing the production of bad quality building materials; and eliminating behaviors that are harmful to agriculture and farmers.
