The Institute of High Energy Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Tumor Hospital Attached to Tianjin Medical University will jointly set up a tumor molecular imaging lab.

IHEP will provide high-tech molecule imaging examination devices for the lab and the Tumor Hospital of Tianjin Medical University will offer 1200 square meters of lab site and clinic resources.

According to THATMU, the development of tumors is a complicated process and most of the patients will be diagnosed with medium-term or terminal tumor by the time they go to see the doctor and hence miss the best time for treatment. Molecule imaging can help identify the illness when the molecule of the tumor cells begins to change and thus enable an early diagnosis and better recovery.

IHEP is an authoritative institution of molecular imaging science in China. THATMU is one of the largest tumor prevention hospitals in China.
