The Quality Control Department of Hai'an County in Nantong, Jiangsu Province has identified four cosmetics that contain high levels of mercury.

The quality control department checked over 20 whitening cosmetics. Of those being examined, four kinds of cosmetics, including "YOOMA", "Lishimei" and "Lishizhen", were found to contain poisonous levels of mercury.

Zhu Jun, a deputy director from Hai'an Quality Control Department, says that these cosmetics will cause skin infections or even cancer when used.

The Quality Control Department has not said what sort of punishment they will hand to the manufacturers. China-wide, there has yet to be a move to ban these cosmetics.
