Shen Simin, Chairman of the Shanghai Cooking Association, has disclosed that a national green food supply chain is going to be launched to ensure that the food supplied to Shanghai restaurants is fresh and nutritious.

Under the green food supply chain, the purchase of materials, ingredients and seasonings will be strictly controlled to ensure the high quality of the food.

At present, Zhejiang Province and Jiangsu Province have formed the biggest base of green food supply for the Shanghai restaurant industry. The green food production bases there include Shangyu, Fuyang in Zhejiang province, Qiandaohu Lake in Hangzhou, Changzhou and Yangcheng Lake in Jiangsu province.

Thirteen restaurants including Shaoxing Restaurant, Sunya Cantonese Restaurant, Lvyangcun Restaurant and Shanghai Classical Hotel have already registered under the green food supply chain system.
