Shaanxi Province Allocates Lottery Funds To Support Underprivileged College Freshmen

The Civil Affairs Department and Department of Education in Shaanxi Province have jointly launched a study-assistance activity, using welfare lottery funds to help students from underprivileged families go to university.

The Civil Affairs Department will take out RMB1 million from the welfare lottery fund to support 375 college students. Those who have been admitted to enter full-time ordinary institutions of higher learning each can get RMB3000 each year, and freshmen at vocational schools earn RMB2000.

The students who are eligible for the support include orphans from welfare institutions and students from low and medium-income families.
