The Red Cross Society of China has launched a "9993" special number to receive donations made through mobile text messages.

Mobile phone users can send short messages to 9993 by mobile phones to donate different sums of money to support RCSC's activities in China. Users can donate each month by sending MY5, MY10, or MY15 to 9993 to donate RMB5, RMB10, RMB15, respectively, each month to RCSC. To cancel this monthly donation, users can send MY5Q, MY10Q, MY15Q or 0000 to 9993.

This is the first attempt of the special service number, common to mobile phones, put forward by China Telecom, China Netcom, China Mobile and China Unicom. All the donations received will be used in RCSCs activities in the humanitarian field.

Founded in 1904, RCSC is the only national Red Cross Society in China and a humanitarian social relief organization.
