With funding from the China Soong Ching Ling Foundation and McDonald's China, Ronald McDonald House Charities has been formally launched in China to help improve the health and well-being of Chinese children.
According to their plan, RMHC will set up two Ronald McDonald House Family Rooms and ten Ronald McDonald House Care Mobiles in the next five years with the assistance of the Half The Sky Foundation, which provides nurturing care for orphaned children in China.
So far, the corporate partners of RMHC have donated more than RMB26 million to these programs, and over 770 McDonald's restaurants in mainland China have also set up donation-boxes at their restaurants to gain public donations.
Jeffrey Schwartz, CEO of McDonald's China says that caring for children is the showcase of McDonald's core values. He sees the establishment of RMHC in China as an exciting work in both China and the world.
Sarah Ferguson, Global Ambassador for Children's World day and the Duchess of York gave a speech during the opening of the Ronald McDonald House of Charities launch in China, and Li Ning, secretary-general of SCLF, says that these charities show the commitment of relevant corporations and organizations to the welfare of children.
