Yang Chaofei, director of the Policy and Law Division of the State Administration of Environment Protection, has disclosed to local media that SEPA, the Ministry of Finance and the State Administration of Taxation are studying ways of making a new policy on pollution tax and emission tax collection.<\/p>\n
The emission tax is specially designed for car drivers. This means that car owners will need to pay a tax for their automobile exhaust gases such as carbon monoxide and sulfur dioxide and they may be asked to pay the tax when they add petrol to their cars at the gas stations.<\/p>\n
The pollution product tax is mainly designed for enterprises, because enterprises need to pay for their highly polluted products.<\/p>\n
Yang says that the study on the policies is still in the initial stage and policies on both taxes are expected to be promulgated during the 11th Five Year Plan.
