After being approved by the central government, Macau submitted a note to the UN Secretary-General on January 10 via Wang Guangya, China's Permanent Representative to the United Nations. Later, UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon notified the government of the People's Republic of China in the name of an assignee that Kyoto Protocol would be used in Macau from January 14, 2008.
