Chinese gymnast and entrepreneur Li Ning, representing the Li Ning Fund, has donated EUR20,000 to the German gymnast Oksana Chusovitina for the rehabilitation treatment of her son who is suffering from leukemia.<\/p>\n
Oksana Chusovitina is 33 years old now and is called \"The Gymnastics Grandma\" by German media. In the Beijing Olympic games she competed with rivals who are nearly 20 years younger than her — winning a silver medal.<\/p>\n
Chusovitina first participated in the Olympics in the 1992 Barcelona Games representing the Commonwealth of Independent States, and then in 1996, 2000, and 2004 she also took part in the gymnastics events on behalf of Uzbekistan. The reason for her continuing in competition is to win more bonuses to help pay for treatment for her son who was diagnosed with leukemia in 2002.<\/p>\n
