The China HIV\/AIDS Media Partnership — an initiative of the Global Business Coalition — has been launched in Beijing.<\/p>\n
CHAMP is an anti-HIV AIDS organization sponsored by GBC with support from the government, non-governmental organizations, media and private enterprise. It aims to raise Chinese people's awareness of HIV\/AIDS prevention by mobilizing the communication power of mass media and commercial marketing.<\/p>\n
Hao Yang, deputy director of the Bureau of Disease Control and Prevention of the Ministry of Health, stated at the launch ceremony that the establishment of CHAMP is of great significance to China's HIV\/AIDS prevention efforts. Hao believed that CHAMP would be able to play an important role in achieving the objectives of China's action plan for Reducing and Preventing the Spread of HIV\/AIDS 2006-2010.<\/p>\n
CHAMP represents an unprecedented collaboration between China's leading media and private enterprises to develop a coordinated cross-platform public awareness campaign on HIV\/AIDS. Many local media companies and multinational enterprises have joined in the alliance.
