China's General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection, and Quarantine has reported that its Zhejiang branch has identified three pesticides in a batch of soybeans imported to China from the United States.<\/p>\n
The pesticides concerned are metalaxyl, fludioxonil, and thiamethoxam.<\/p>\n
The report says 57,000 tons of imported American soybeans contained both soybeans conforming to Chinese standards and blue coated soybeans containing the three kinds of pesticide.<\/p>\n
To protect consumers' health, the Zhejiang Provincial Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine administration has organized a team to sort and remove the coated soybeans out. Meanwhile AQSIQ has issued a 90-day early warning about American soybeans imported to China.<\/p>\n
In addition, AQSIQ has urged the U.S. authorities to take effective measures to strengthen their supervision of soybean products exported to China.
