Achim Steiner, executive director of the United Nations Environment Program, has spoken highly of Beijing's achievement in protecting the environment during the 2008 Olympic Games and said the city has set up a good example for other countries.<\/p>\n
At the opening ceremony of the 25th Session of the UNEP Governing Council and Global Ministerial Environment Forum, Steiner said that Beijing's Green Olympics concept had become one of the main pillars of this international sports event and this was of great significance to the whole world.<\/p>\n
On a ceremony for the unveiling of Beijing Green Olympics Exhibition in Nairobi with Li Ganjie, deputy director of the China Ministry of Environmental Protection, Steiner addressed again the importance of Beijing's Green Olympic Games and said that it had become a green heritage for the whole world.
