In response to a report that said that 15 American infant formula milk powder products contain perchlorate, Abbot, one of the three major milk powder producers from the United States, declared that all their products sold on Chinese market are all made with milk from New Zealand, Ireland or the Netherlands, so they aren't contaminated with this substance and are safe for Chinese babies.<\/p>\n
Environmental Working Group, a non-profit organization in the United States, announced on April 3 that infant formula milk powder products of 15 American producers contain perchlorate, a chemical which is often used in explosives and rocket fuel, but the report did not mention the name of the 15 producers.<\/p>\n
According to Associated Press, the milk powder products from Abbot, Nestle, and Mead Johnson occupy more than 90% of the market in the United States. Abbot said that since their products sold in China don't use milk from the USA, they don't contain perchlorate.<\/p>\n
