According to Liu Yongyi, the chairperson of the Guangdong Hotel Union, an affiliate of Guangdong Provincial Federation of Trade Unions, she is going to be fired on April 30, 2009 for upsetting her employer.<\/p>\n
According to Jiang Lingquan, a principal of GHU the tenure of Liu, who has worked as trade union chairperson for nine years, was scheduled to end in February 2011. However the company dismissed her in December 2008 for misconduct including: revising labor contracts unilaterally, altering the contents of the employee handbook, and improperly managing the data of the company. Jiang said that the company later agreed with Liu to compensate her so she could leave the company in a decent manner, but Liu went back her word after she received the economic compensation on April 17, 2009.<\/p>\n
However, Liu said she had done well in the position and had strived for a range of benefits for the employees which had offended her superior and led to her being removed from her duties.<\/p>\n
Wu Zhaoquan, a director of GPFTU was cited by local media as saying that GHU did not act properly in issuing the notice to terminate the labor contract with Liu, but, on investigation, Liu was also found to have involved alleged misconduct.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
