In response to \"Protecting Children in Cyberspace\", a theme adopted by the International Telecommunication Union for this year's World Telecommunication and Information Society Day, Shanghai Telecom has launched an initiative to create a green online environment for teenagers.<\/p>\n
It is learned that Shanghai Telecom will promote the green iInternet service in 15 of its outlets across Shanghai, providing related knowledge and technology consulting services to consumers.<\/p>\n
Shanghai Telecom's green Internet service is said to be able to help efficiently manage household networks to automatically close network access and with screening of undesirable information to protect teenagers from accessing to unhealthy online content.<\/p>\n
Statistics show that by early this year there were 1.5 billion internet users around the world, and of these about 400 million are broadband users. While the Internet is growing rapidly, it is said to have been of more and more harm to children. The latest survey shows that over 60% of children will chat online every day, and 75% of them are willing to provide information about themselves and their family online in exchange for goods and services.
