A special organizing committee led by All-China Women's Federation has announced in Beijing that it will join hands with Unilever China to carry out a special program in ten Chinese regions to show care to the children left behind in rural China by migrant workers.<\/p>\n
It is learned that the program will be carried out in ten Chinese provinces including Sichuan, Jiangxi, Guangxi, Hubei, Guizhou, Jiangsu, Guangdong, Hunan, and Anhui. Each year it is expected to benefit 600,000 families with children that have been left behind.<\/p>\n
Under the program, love cards on these children's family education and parent-child telephone cards will be issued and practical guidance will be given to families with children left behind. It is proposed that these parents make at least one telephone call each week to their child, mail at least one letter to them each month, send at least one inspiring book to them each quarter, mail one gift on special occasions such as Children's Day, Mother's Day, the child's birthday, or around examination time, and last but not least go home at least once in a year. <\/p>\n
Ceng Xiwen, vice president of Unilever China, said that they hope to have these children experience the warmth of home through this program <\/p>\n
Statistics from ACWF show that there are 58 million children left behind in China, which accounts for 30% of the total number of children in rural China. And more than 40 million of these children are less than 14 years old.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
