The BMW Compassion Fund from the China Charity Federation has donated CNY1 million to the China Intangible Cultural Heritage Protection Center to protect such intangible culture heritage items as the craft of wood engraved pictures in Mianzhu, Sichuan, the Qiang People's embroidery, and the art of the Qiang flute.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile the BMW China Culture Journey, a nine-day trip that will cover more than 2,000 kilometers, has been initiated at Chengdu Jinsha Ruins Museum. Dr. Zheng Changling, the deputy director of CICHPC, said that as part of China Cultural Heritage Day, BMW China Culture Journey would bring intangible heritage protection to the attention of more people.<\/p>\n

Statistics show that the Wenchuan Earthquake on May 12, 2008 caused serious damage to a total of 39 national intangible cultural heritage items and over a hundred provincial intangible cultural heritage items in Sichuan, Shaanxi, and Gansu, particularly to the culture treasure of Qiang ethnic group.<\/p>\n

Christoph Stark, the president of BMW Greater China, said that in addition to protecting these intangible heritage items, the BWM Compassion Fund will also strive to protect other cultural heritage items in China.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
