A new document issued by the Insurance Association of China requires insurance companies to include HIV\/AIDS virus carriers, HIV\/AIDS patients and passive drug takers into their liabilities in insurance contracts.<\/p>\n
According to the new document \"Specimen Life Insurance Products\" from October 1, 2009, no insurance company may exclude HIV\/AIDS virus carriers or HIV\/AIDS patients or passive drug takers from their due obligations. However, the document says that insurance companies can be exempt from obligations beyond their abilities or obligations caused by severe disasters or resulting from policy holders' \"antisocial behavior\".<\/p>\n
In addition to the inclusion of HIV\/AIDs patients and passive drug takers, the document also adds rulings on drink driving, driving without a valid license, and driving an invalid vehicle, as items which all are listed in the liability exemption clause.<\/p>\n
In addition, the new document specifies the time for payment of insurance money as well as the time that insurance companies may take to verify the certificates and materials submitted by the policy holders who apply for compensation.<\/p>\n
