Germany-based Volkswagen AG and Sweden's Volvo have announced recalls for substandard cars in China in accordance with the Regulation of Defective Automobile Product Recalls of China.<\/p>\n
Volkswagon has filed a report to the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine of China, which states that from July 20, 2009, it will recall 8,680 of its imported 07-09 Touareg sedans in Chinese mainland due to a body structure defect in the cars. The auto manufacturer stated that the cars were mainly produced between November 25, 2006 and January 21, 2009.<\/p>\n
In addition, from July 13, Volvo is recalling certain S80 sedans which were equipped with 3.0 liter T6 engines or 4.4 liter V8 engines. These sedans were made between February 6, and November 3, 2008. A software programming error in the cooling system may cause the fan to stop working and cause cooling system malfunction and engine failure, increasing the risk of accident.
